When Ames went bankrupt in 2002, the chain left behind many locations in Eastern Connecticut, so I thought I thought I could tell you what happened to Ames locations across the area:

728 Hartford Pike (CT 101), Dayville, CT
This location was one of the first in the state, opening in 1983. It was one of the longest ones vacant, lasting 8 years. Nothing opening at the former Ames until 2010, when Planet Fitness opened up. Planet Fitness toke up most of the space. Some photos:

95 Storrs Road (CT 195), Mansfield, CT, Inside the East Brook Mall
This location was opened in 1998, replacing the only Caldor in the county. It was vacant from 2002-2005. Kohl's opened up in the former Ames area, and has remained since. Photos:
